l.i.f.e. Groups

At Asbury, our mission is to Explore the faith, Experience God, and Extend service to others as a Christian community. This all starts by first getting connected. Our goal is to have all members participate in a small group as a means to deepen their personal faith while making a difference for Christ. Many of our small group opportunities are featured in this section. You may also contact Sherry Hershberger for more information - call her at (608)238-0737.

Sunday Mornings

  • The Book of Ephesians
An in depth study on the book of Ephesians. Being a prisoner in Rome who was awaiting trial, Paul could not revisit the church in Ephesus. He wrote his letter to the Ephesians to do what he could not do personally. He wrote to strengthen and confirm the believers there in the grace of God and the gospel of Christ, as well as to encourage them in performing their works of service and holiness in response to God's saving grace. Join Bucky and Mike as they teach for 12 weeks on this powerful book
    - Day & Time: Sundays, at 9:00 (begins Sept. 12)
    - Leaders: Bucky Lippitt and Mike Carr
    - Location: - Room 108 (lower level)
    - Childcare provided

  • ADULT 10:30 a.m. STUDY
In September, the Adult Bible Study class will begin a series on the book of Exodus. Exodus inter-weaves three stories: that of the God of Israel who rescues a people in captivity after years of silence; of a reluctant leader who goes on to become the giver of the Law; and of people of Israel, who struggle to be faithful to God after facing near extinction at the hands of its captors. Exodus has often been called "the Easter event of the Old Testament", and it is truly a story for our time -- a story about seeking and finding a God who redeems us in our moments of separation and sin.
    - Day & Time: Sundays, 10:30-11:30 am (begins Sept. 12)
    - Leaders: Maryanne Julian, Sandy Christianson

  • THE BOOK OF REVELATION
The book of Revelation either produces many questions or often confuses people. Revelation is a literary mosaic of images borrowed from ancient Jewish writings, collected together to energize the church during a period of domination under Roman rule. Though many turn to Revelation to find graphic and horrific speculation about the future, the real message of Revelation is one of encouragement and hope, looking toward God's ultimate victory over evil and suffering.

  • BOOK STUDY - HAVE A LITTLE FAITH
Will you do my eulogy? Mitch Albom’s journey to honor the last request of a beloved clergyman ultimately leads him to rekindle his own long-ignored faith. Albom spends years exploring churches and synagogues, the suburbs and the city, the 'us' versus 'them' of religion. Slowly, he gravitates to an inner-city pastor of a crumbling church that houses the homeless, and is stunned at how similar belief can be. As his own beloved cleric slowly lets go, Albom writes his final farewell, having learned that a faithful heart comes in many forms and places.
